Greetings
all! We pray you are well amidst another year of the pandemic as
we all seek to
stay safe, embrace the journey and live life fully! This year we were
blessed to spend more time
with family & friends, watch the grandkids grow (Arlo now 1,
Caleb 8) and
resume some travel. Mikaela,
Bri, the
grandkids dad and I again ventured to Northern Pines family camp
where we were
blessed to see many longtime friends. In addition, Dan and I
spent time on the
North Shore and on a multi-state drive trip to the Ozarks. I too had the
opportunity for additional
travels and enjoyed a fun winter of skiing and visits with my
friend Julie on
the North Shore. Dan and I bought an amazing Can Am (3 wheeler-
2 in front, one
in back) and spent time on the country roads! We again sang in
the praise band
& volunteer with the church Matthew 25 food distribution. Dad and mom are well,
dad defying his age and
continuing to bike and play tennis. He was thrilled he can again
go dancing
(when Covid rates were lower). He and I also went on another fun
trek to the
Upper Peninsula to see his brother Jim and my Aunt Kathy.
Dan: What a
whirlwind year of
tennis! Dan, now having been a tennis coach and tennis
teaching pro for 35 years,
was blessed to have a great tennis season as the Maple Grove
Girls’ Tennis Team
went to the state tournament for the first time in history and
took 5th! Dan
too was featured on the Mike Maxx radio
show (prior to them heading to state) and was on the news. He
was also blessed
to win the Minnesota Girls AA Highschool Tennis Coach of the
Year. He too is
the Centennial Boy’s Coach and
teaches tennis at the University of Minnesota and is a
teaching pro there as
well. Highlights of Dan’s year included the amazing tennis
season, the ability
to resume singing in his kid’s band (many fun gigs at
community events),
spending time with family, and the fun travels.
We made the trek to Willmar and a couple day
trip back and have loved our new Can Am. Many miles on the
country roads and to the apple orchard! We will likely sell
our Honda Motorcycle in the Spring as we have fallen in
love with the Can Am, what fun!
Kristi: Hard to believe I am now in my 25th
year as a professor at St. Kates! I too continue to have a
private practice with persons who have psychiatric and
developmental conditions. I also had the opportunity for a
number of presentation and publication activities including an
invitation to speak at a student research conference at Brunel
University in London. Due to Covid, like many of the
speaking engagements, the event was virtual this year. I
continue active running, lifting and biking and again captained
the Purple Pumpers bike team as we completed our 26th MS
150. Next semester I head on another sabbatical to work on
a number of publications and another book project.
Highlights of the year included the fun travels, time with the
grandkids, embracing life, volunteering with our church food
distribution, time on the bike, pontoon and Can Am, and precious
time with valued friends and family.
The Purple Pumpers 26th! Thanks to those who have sponsored us,
through the years our team has raised over $160,000!
Mikaela,
Bri, Caleb & Arlo: It has been such a
rollercoaster of a year this year. In February our family moved
into a new home in Fridley with a family room and big backyard to
play in, which is what we were looking for. Bri has been an
amazing in her new role as Food &Transportation Coordinator
(not to mention many, many other tasks) at our K-8 school. Mikaela
is also in a new role as the Physical Education Teacher and is so
very happy with this transition. Caleb is rocking it in 3rd grade
this year, and is continuing his awesomeness on his hockey and
baseball teams. At 13 months, Arlo is just starting to walk and is
full of endless life, curiosity and joy. He never, ever stops
moving! Charlie, Lady and Dragon are looking as cute as ever and
love treats and napping. We are so very thankful for our family,
health and safety.
God's Blessings to Each of You!
